I love this painting, which came to me in a dream. Although the subject matter of red poppies is one that I revisit often, the idea of painting the frame onto the canvas too nudged me awake one morning not long ago!

The landscape within the frame is gentle, with a suggestion of the seaside or of distant misty mountains.
